From our first experience of the Mosaic Firefly

These are my thoughts:

When I attended the first mosaic firefly session

I was feeling groundless, disconnected and experiencing feelings of brain fog and anxiety.

There was a gentleness and inclusive nature to the interaction that was being fostered.

The circle felt safe and inviting. The facilitators were both very clear and involved.

English was not the first language for Many of the participants, yet this did not hinder the process of connecting and experiencing each other’s diverse cultures and personal histories. There was laughter and comedy as we play acted, exchanged imagined gifts.

We learnt each other’s names. There was humor, sharing and laughter. I felt a heart opening, my mind began to get directed and I became more alert. I was engaged in a process of activities that facilitated connection with others in a meaningful way despite language being a perceived barrier.

Experiencing other cultures occurred through play acting and role playing.

The tea and cookies were a treat and the connections being fostered were emotionally nourishing. I learn’t something new about myself as I was learning about the other participants.

This class was profound in that it brought us all together engaging mind and heart through guided activities and storytelling, we came to experience each other as unique individuals each with a story to share.

The facilitators were well organized and through respectful interactions made the most effective and joy filled use of our time together.

I look forward to the next session. There is a real sense of hopefulness in this program.

Thank you

Azmina Kassam Michael Knight
